    PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: 
    Founder
    of the family was Shri Valabhasinh Cholaraj Ghorpade, the second son of
    Raja Cholaraj Ghorpade of Mudhol.
    The estate was recognized by the British Government as a saranjam and
    had been
    declared by the Bombay High Court in 1868 to be partible, the issue was
    re-examined in 1891 and the Government passed a Resolution
    in 1891 stating that “the whole of the Gajendragad estate was a
    saranjam continuable as hereditary in the fullest sense of the
    word”.
